Early Details on the BlackBerry Torch
Research in Motion (RIM) held a much anticipated press conference today to announce the release of the new BlackBerry Torch. The phone goes on sale August 12 and will only be available through AT&T for $199 after signing a two-year contract. As expected, the phone will run on the BlackBerry 6 operating system.
The Torch boasts an impressive 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen. It also features BlackBerry’s standard full QWERTY keyboard that slides out from under the screen. Navigating the phone is simpler thanks to improved menu options and a universal search function. The Torch comes with a Webkit browser, which supports HTML5. Owners will also appreciate the phone’s compatibility with social networking websites. In fact, the Torch has with a built-in app that pools together your feeds into one convenient location.
